Giant Pao Precision Co., Ltd.

In under ten years Giant Pao Precision has machined its way into the photomask and packaging equipment supply chain. In an industry measured in microns, a paperwork error costs as much as a machining error.

Three hours of machining, two hours of paperwork

Semiconductor equipment customers accept nothing less than a full dimensional report with every shipment: every toleranced dimension, every geometric callout and every surface finish, each tied to a balloon number on the drawing. QA used to type that table cell by cell from the drawing. A part of moderate complexity took close to two hours, and one missed tolerance meant re-inspecting the whole batch.

Balloons and characteristics in one pass

CADASU reads the drawing, extracts every dimension, tolerance and geometric callout, numbers the balloons and outputs the inspection document in the customer's own format. QA reviews rather than retypes. “What surprised us most is that it reads the datums inside the GD&T frames,” one inspector says.

Giving the time back to the work that needs judgement

Preparing an inspection sheet went from nearly two hours to 22 minutes, and transcription errors fell by more than ninety per cent. The QA team now spends its attention on measuring rather than on paperwork.

“It does not matter how accurately the machine runs, if the paperwork is wrong you do it again. Closing that gap is what made the whole line flow.”
